Little Boat of Water, Still Floating

“‎These little contradictions are in all of us. They're in me at least. And so I forgot that I had been awake for 30 hours and kept walking, grateful to be a little boat full of water, still floating.” --John Green

i hit my coworkers shoulder lightly and he was like “you’re going to make me cry like a girl” and i was like “what’s wrong with being a girl?” and he was quiet for a moment then he looked into the distance and whispered “the social standards they’re forced to live by”

today my friend was complaining about the inadequacy of pockets in clothes for girls and she asked rhetorically “why do men get to have the good pockets?” and I whispered “male privilege”

*watches Jon Stewart’s comments on Ferguson* hey look it’s a white man getting heaps of credit and adulation for saying the exact same shit that black people have been saying for weeks now. how unexpected.

Cmon now. After 400+ years, America ain’t about to start caring about Black people.

I haven’t seen Jon Stewart’s commentary yet but I’ve seen this with John Oliver…it makes me sad. :/

Remember when A Bug’s Life actually had intense commentary on privilege and oppression?
